Aspiring teachers all over England and Wales are subjected to a Maths test which they have to pass in order to be able to train and become a qualified teacher. It doesn’t matter whether you have a degree in Maths and you are a genius Mathematician or your intention is to become a primary teacher, everyone who wants to become a teacher has to pass this test. The test is called the professional numeracy skills test and believe it or not it is quite tricky, especially if you haven’t covered percentages, fractions and box plots in a while!

Maths Made Easy is now giving people the chance to see if they have what it takes to pass the professional numeracy skills test. Access the following link to have a go at a free numeracy skills test and see if you can pass it.

Free Numeracy Skills Test

So that you can see if you have passed or not, you are looking to get 18 or more out of 28 in order to classify as a pass. The test is made up for two sections, the mental arithmetic section where you have to answer all of the questions in order and within 18 seconds. Make sure you have your speakers on so that you can hear the questions being read out. The second section is the written data questions which are made up of graphs, tables and data. The topics for the numeracy skills test include fractions, percentages, cumulative frequency curves, averages, unit conversions, ratio’s and a few other topics like two way tables and data interpretation.

Have a go at the test and share your results with your friends. Do they have what it takes to become a teacher?
