AQA A Level Further Maths Spec at a glance
The new AQA A level further maths specification came into effect in 2017 with first exams in 2018. The following list details the core content within the AQA A level maths course.
- OT1: Mathematical argument, language and proof
- OT2: Mathematical problem solving
- OT3: Mathematical modelling
- Compulsory content
Options
Students must select two of these options to study:
- Optional application 1 – mechanics
- Optional application 2 – statistics
- Optional application 3 – discrete

There are three options for paper 3 all with the same exam structure.
Option 1:
One question paper answer booklet on Discrete and one question paper answer booklet on Statistics will be provided and these papers contain any question types from within these topic areas.
Option 2:
One question paper answer booklet on Statistics and one question paper answer booklet on Mechanics.
Option 3:
One question paper answer booklet on Mechanics and one question paper answer booklet on Discrete.
