Things to remember:

  • You should write your equation as you read it.
  • There are different names for the same symbol, so you need to learn them.

Equations won’t always be written in maths, but might be give in words, so you need to learn the different names for the symbols.

Use symbols and numbers to write x times three plus five is equal to seventeen.

To write it, we just write is as we read it.

Hint: When we multiply a letter by a number, we just put the number before it.

And where we have it, 3x +5 = 17 .

Use symbols and numbers to write two x minus four all divided by six is equal eight.
