Part 07 – Collecting like term surds III

Example:

Evaluate and simplify 2√29+3√5-√19+3√29-7√5+√19

Worked Solution:

Use the formulae m√a±n√b±o√c ≡m√a±n√b±o√c and m√a±n√a≡(m±n) √a

2√29+3√5-√19+3√29-7√5+√19=(2+3) √29+(3-7) √5+(-1+1) √19=

=5√29-4√5 Note: -√19+√19 cancel each other out and we don’t need to write a zero.
